Ferguson fuming after Perth's first half
Perth Glory earned the wrath of coach Ian Ferguson after a forgettable opening half in their 20 loss to the Jets in Newcastle on Saturday.
The visitors found themselves trailing by two goals after just 11 minutes against the Jets, Jeremy Brockie scoring goals just a minute apart.
Ferguson, a fierce midfielder in his playing days, hooked two players at the break and demanded more of his charges than the woeful 45minute shift they had put in.
Billy Mehmet and Todd Howarth may have had first use of the ice bath but the steam was still coming out of Ferguson's ears as Andrezinho and Josh Mitchell joined their team mates for the second stanza.
The pair are likely to start against Sydney in Perth on Sunday, given they rolled up their sleeves and had a real dig in Newcastle.
"First half was particularly bad," a frustrated Ferguson said.
"I wasn't happy at halftime and told them in no uncertain terms it wasn't good enough.
"I felt in the second half, when we made a couple of changes, I felt we had a lot of the ball and created a few half chances and some good chances."
Glory lost inspirational centreback Chris Coyne at the 21minute mark the week before in the 21 loss to the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford.
An injection in his hip and 48 hours rest ensured the 32yearold was able to go the distance against the Jets.
"It was good getting Chris in there, Josh (Mitchell) at left fullback was good," Ferguson said.
"Getting Andrezinho on the park was good as well.
"We've got a big squad to pick from and today it was very disappointing . the manner we started the game.
"They came at us, we told the players they'd come at us and we didn't handle that.
"It took us 15 to 20 minutes to get in to the game and then we were twonil down."
Perth management opened the purse strings, allowing the squad to stay in NSW between the Mariners and Jets matches which saved down time of two days travelling to the east coast.
"There was a lot of positives out of it, one we didn't travel and two we got all our (training) sessions in but the down side of that is you stay in a hotel for a week without the family, ugg hommes," Ferguson said.
